With less than two weeks until Penn State takes on Youngstown State, the mixing and matching of the spring and summer is starting to die down. The starting lineup and rotation is mostly set, and we’re taking a look as just how each position stacks …

Want tickets? Watch basketball!

Because of some technical error with our hosting server, Blue Host, all our posts from the last month were reposted and hence causing a backlog of NittanyWhiteOut posts on the feed reader. That was out of my control and nothing I could have done about it.

But congratulations to the Buckeyes for winning the NIT. Now explain to me how exactly is a 65 team tournament far superior than the BCS? In both cases, quality teams are still left out and fans are always left with the “what if” factor.

“What if” Ohio State had made this year’s tournament, could they have contended for the actual title? ”

What if” Notre Dame wasn’t over-privileged into getting that Fiesta and Sugar bowl bids, could we have actually seen a quality team play instead?

At least with the BCS, there are only 10 spots available making the it far more prestigious than the 65 team tournament. Even Penn State has made the tournament in the last two decades, who hasn’t? At this point, the NCAA selection committee has more trouble trying to figure out who should make the tournament than who should be left out.

I did a piece on the distribution of student season tickets earlier this week and apparently RUTS has joined the party. The most novel idea I’ve heard so far is attaching basketball attendance to football season tickets. If a student wants a legs up in purchasing football season tickets, then drag your ass out a couple times in the winter and watch the men’s basketball team. For the athletic department its a win-win situation. Not only are they easing absurd demand for student football tickets, they are increasing attendance at basketball games. Who knows, we might be able to create some form of a hostile home environment. It could also lead to more wins. Brilliant!

But I’m working on an interesting piece over the weekend so this will be brief, but I hope everyone enjoys their first full weekend of Spring.
