Penn State Baseball tradition in the making
Caught a San Diego Padres game last night where the Padres beat the New York Mets with a forced walk in the bottom of the 9th.
While we are on the topic of baseball, the Chicago White Sox drafted Lions relief pitcher, Drew O’Neil with the 8th pick in the 4th round. As the 120th overall pick, Drew becomes the third highest draft pick for Penn State baseball.
The Roswell, Ga. native, who had an ERA under 1.00 until giving up a home run in his final appearance of the year, was a two-time first team All-Big Ten selection. He joined Bump (`96, `98) and Michael Campo (`99, `00) as the only two-time first team All-Big Ten honorees in Penn State history. O’Neil was also on numerous preseason watch lists for major awards this year, including the Brooks Wallace Award, the Roger Clemens Award, the Golden Spikes Award and he remains a candidate for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in the country.
Well done Drew! With national titles in both men and women’s volleyball, and a draft pick in baseball, hopefully we will emerge as more than a one-trick pony. With basketball still struggling, baseball is our best bet. Michigan can do it (winning the Big Ten title and earning a spot to the NCAA baseball tournament), we can too.
But here is a photo recap of the Padres game I caught last night. Enjoy.

Love the picture. Nothing like being at the ball park. I love petco park cause of all the brick, it really has a classic feel even though it is a fairly new park.
