Penn State Student Section officially Sold Out

Submitted by Charlie on June 20, 2008 – View Comments

After contacting Greg Myford, Associate Athletic Director and head honcho of the student season football ticket sales, it has officially been confirmed. The Penn State student section is officially sold out. Quote from Greg Myford:

both the sophomore and freshman ticket sale sold out in less than 25 minutes. And although it took that time for all requests to be processed and move through the online system, the reality is that all of the tickets in both sales were requested and accounted for in about 3 minutes. There are no tickets remaining in either sale.

If you were a sophomore and logged in a few seconds after the clock hit 7:03, or a freshman at 8:03 you never had a chance. Don’t forget that freshman was the only class where pre-registration was not requirement seeing as most incoming freshman would not have Penn State email addresses.

The Senior sale took 7 hours when they sold out at 4pm on Monday. 89 percent of the 5,700 seniors who pre-registered managed to grab tickets. The seniors were allotted 26% of the 21,500 student section in Beaver Stadium this season.

Juniors sold out their allotment of 5,880 season tickets in less than 2 minutes. 72% of Juniors that pre-registered in the system were able to purchase their tickets.

So over the student ticket sales, it took an average of 107 minutes to sell out. That figure is highly inflated by the Senior sale which took 7 hours to complete. (For all the talk about how Seniors deserve tickets being their last chance to be in the student section and all, Shame on you Seniors)

But if we ignored the Senior Sale anomaly, the Juniors, Sophomores and Freshman allotment of  16,100+ tickets sold out in less than 3 minutes each consider students in each class were not able to purchase tickets on days assigned to other classes. So if you were a student in one of those three class standings, and you were unable to leap out of bed at 7:00 am sharp, you can enjoy watching Penn State games this season on TV. Hey, at least the Big Ten network is now on Comcast. Rejoice!
