How exactly is Pitt winning the recruiting war?
Word is that Penn State picked up their first running back verbal for the Class of 2009. Curtis Dukes from Philadelphia, NY (Yea, I think thats weird too), verbaled to assistant coach Mike McQueary.
“I just wanted to move on, and work hard and focus on my senior year,” he said. “I want to be able to support my coaches and teammates without any distractions.”
This following a verbal from offensive lineman Adam Gress earlier today, the Penn State express is beginning to move again.
“Dukes ran for 900 yards and 15 touchdowns a year ago, and was an all-North selection as a junior. He was a first team all-section and third team all-state selection as a sophomore in 2006, after rushing for 1,342 yards.”
And… and… wait for it. He was also being recruited by… drum roll please. That little school that wishes they could pay fans to attend football games in Pittsburgh. Yes, PA’s very own little brother school, the Pittsburgh Panthers.
How exactly is Pittsburgh winning the recruiting battle against Penn State again? By Letter of Intent Day, it is never even close. Only in newspaper op-eds can Pittsburgh only claim to ever be on the same level.
“Sometimes you get your little brother excited when you’re playing basketball and you let him get the lead. Then you come back and take it from him.”
