Pennsylvania is a Red State
No, not in presidential polling. That would be scary. Actually, it’s in ESPN’s INTERACTIVE TUESDAY! poll, asking fans who’s going to win the Rustbelt Rumble on Saturday. Polling results showed PSU in the lead, by a 12% margin. Let’s go to the map:

Interestingly enough, fans from Ohio and Pennsylvania are almost equally confident in their teams, with Penn residents favoring PSU by a 85% to 15% margin. For Ohioans, it’s 84%/16%. Here’s an interesting stat that means absolutely nothing: States where colleges that we’ve played [and beaten] are housed have all voted for Penn State. Fans from South Carolina (Coastal), New York (Syracuse), Pennsylvania (Temple), Oregon (State), Illinois, Indiana (Purdue), Wisconsin, and Michigan all favor Penn State in this matchup. We also carry the entire Big Ten. For those of you not geographically inclined, the only states aside from Ohio where the Buckeyes lead are Oklahoma, Alaska, and Alabama. Alabama just might have a reason to root for Ohio State in this one. Just sayin’.
Let’s just hope that the people are right in this one. Penn State certainly can’t play the ‘no respect’ card in this one, sorry Jay Paterno. Actually, I’m sure Mark May can say something stupid. As the week goes on, I’m sure we’ll find some columns that say that Penn State hasn’t played anyone good yet. Or that they haven’t played a tough road game yet. Or that they haven’t played Ohio State yet. I’ll give you a hint: only one of those is true.
I never thought I’d have a reason to watch Ohio vs. Temple on INTERACTIVE TUESDAY! but I’m doing it for PSU bragging rights. Can the team we slaughtered beat the team that played Ohio State kinda closely? It means nothing, but go Owls! Right now, 10-0 Ohio.
Totally unrelated sidebar that I only post for self-gratification: they just played my call-in on INTERACTIVE TUESDAY! about Colt McCoy. They spelled my name wrong [Devin] but I’m still happy. So if you were one of the 17 people watching this game, you heard my voice. Cool. Or not.

Well, they pulled it out in the 4th quarter. 14-10 Temple. Somehow I think this isn’t the only team from PA that’s gonna be beating a team from OH this week…
