The Seven Stages of Grief

Stages One, Two, and Three were reflected in my last post.  I was shocked (1) that Penn State could let Iowa beat them.  The pain (2) led me to vent on this site.  And then the anger (3) caused me to lash out, and accuse the refs of screwing us over.  I will argue to my deathbed that Scirrotto didn’t commit pass interference, and that an intentional grounding should’ve been called during the final drive, but that’s water under the bridge.

Stage Four was evident by my lack of posting this past week.  My absence was due to a depression (4) that made me lonely, and I could take no solace in the upcoming beatdown of Indiana.

However, over the past week, I’ve seen Stages Five and Six in action.  If we win out Penn State is going to the Rose Bowl and, hey, college football is crazy.  It would take a lot of help, but we’re not eliminated from national championship contention.  That’s my upward turn (5) and working through (6).

I’m still struggling to get to Stage Seven, because I have trouble accepting (7) the fact that we could lose to an inferior team.  I still think our players underperformed, and that the refs certainly did us no favors.  However, I can put that behind me and look forward to a dismantling of a hoosier.  What is a Hoosier, anyway?

I’m still a little angry, and a lot saddened by Penn State’s loss, but I’m no longer allowing it to consume my life.  It’s been 5 days, it’s time to move on.  Let’s beat Indiana, and beat Michigan State and take it to USC (presumably) in the Rose Bowl.  Let’s win back some credibility for the Big Ten!  And if, by some miracle, the pieces fall into place (Let’s go South Carolina and Kansas), let’s win the damn thing!

WE ARE…PENN STATE

WE ARE…

Excuse me while I kill myself

I can’t even give Iowa credit.  The boys played like shit today.  And seriously, how much did Kirk Ferentz pay the refs for them to not understand the concept of incidental contact?

From the rulebook:
Actions that do not constitute pass interference include but are not limited to:

(a) Incidental contact by a defender’s hands, arms, or body when both players are competing for the ball,

Nothing like a little domination

Domination?! You want domination? Try this for a change. Penn State women’s volleyball squad, the very same squad that won the national title last season, is currently undefeated at 25-0 this year and about to steamroll their way into the NCAA tournament this December.

But wait, that’s not even the best part. In their 25-0 campaign this season, they have dropped 0 matches. Now read that again. “0″. To put this in perspective, women’s volleyball is won in a best out of 5 matches series in each game. Now, in 25 games, this Penn State women’s volleyball squad has lost a total of 0 matches amassing a match record of whatever 25 times 3 is. Thats right, 75 straight matches won (and that doesn’t even count their win streak from last season’s national championship run).

Na Na Na Na… Na Na Na Na…

HEY HEY HEYYYYYY…. GOOOOODDBYE!!!!!!!!!

The era of fear is over! Good riddence. I’ve watched college students stand in line for over an hour today just to make sure their voice was heard. Hey Republican Party, you have been put on notice. There is a new movement in America and either you listen or you can be left behind.

If I can vote…

…so can you. I already cast my absentee ballot earlier last week, but went to the polls today to make sure my friends voted as well. There was a line out the door at this polling station, but the one in downtown State College (behind Hooters where alot of college kids live), there was a line around the entire block. This has to be the first time college kids lined up for anything other than free food or beer isn’t it? This is it though, I feel a shift in the country. Change is coming and I AM READY…
