Getting shafted Wolverine style

Submitted by Charlie on February 1, 2009 – View Comments

What?! Wolverine fans crying about the refs?!

So much for the “quit blaming it on the refs” mantra from Michigan fans. Guess when you suck in both football and basketball, whining about the refs is now acceptable.

Sure, that was a catch in bounds. If you were blind and a Big Ten referee working a Michigan game.
Sure, that was a catch with his foot clearly in bounds. If you were blind and a Big Ten referee working a Michigan game.

Karma sucks doesn’t it?

Yes, I’m still talking about something that happened in 2005. But since then, we’ve been to 2 BCS bowls, Michigan? Well, they’re now comparable to Notre Dame, and that’s not a complement.

Have any of you ever seen a game at that erector set they call a stadium? The fans spend half of the time yelling "holding" or "interference" to the refs... Every play is looked at, like the refs must call a penalty on the visitors... It's not enjoyable. There's no sportsmanship.
  • Penn State fans are idiots
Matty blue has it right - you guys are a bunch of loonies.

By the way, dipshits - here's a photo of Avant making the catch a split second before the photo you put up in this stupid blog. Pretty clearly he is in bounds. Morons.

  • If any part of the foot, whether it be toe or heel touches the out of bounds line, it is out of bounds even if it lands after the initial touch. So morons or not, he is still out of bounds.
  • Bigasshammm
So by your logic any player that drags a toe before falling out of bounds would be an incomplete? Since it's logical to assume that the next part of their foot to touch would be touching out of bounds. Why is this even being brought up in February? Let it go... let it go.

You are either insane or don't know the rules. The picture clearly shows the toe in bounds prior to the heel landing out of bounds. Toe in bounds makes it a legal in bounds catch regardless of where the next part of his body touches.

Some dumbass wrote: "a Michigan hockey player’s dad is allowed to attempt aggravated assault without repercussions against a Michigan State hockey player because of something that happened on the ice"

Are you serious? What is Michigan's jurisdiction here? Exactly what "repercussions" do you suggest Michigan levy against the dad? Is the dad a student? A player? On scholarship? Why is this Michigan's problem that he acted like an idiot and not the cops' problem?

Man, you Penn Staters sure can be fucking stupid.
  • Umm.. No, No, and No. The answers are quite simple. Not a student, not a player, and not on scholarship. Seems pretty clear to me. But maybe the rules up there in Ann Arbor are different when it comes to aggravated assault.

Again WHAT DOES THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN HAVE TO DO WITH IT? That is a police matter, yet you are making it out to be a university matter. Grow a brain, dipshit.
  • I don't think the person who said that once mentioned anything about the university itself, rather than the overreaction of its fans to a particular event. But your name callling, and overreation to his comment sure proves him wrong.
  • Fuck Penn State
    comlement? dumbass.
  • matty blue
the difference, of course, is that nobody in ann arbor is complaining about some massive anti-michigan conspiracy, you fucking loonies.
  • Matt
At least we have a high horse to fall off of. Thanks for acknowledging our historical superiority. Give it time Blue fans.

    Nice spelling. "ComplEment"... Really???

Nice post.....glad to see you got your "once in a decade" win over MI in 2008.

Sucks getting beat 10 years in a row, doesn't it? About time you won one anyways.
  • El Caballo de Sangre
Amen brother. And this is nothing new from those guys either. Bad calls that benefit them are barely acknowledged, let alone addressed (which is hardly unusual among sports fans/bloggers), but holy shit - let just ONE bad call go against them and they bitch and bitch and bitch and bitch and BITCH. Again, that's not all that unusual among sports fans/bloggers, but they really take it to another level. What's worse than that, though, is that they constantly claim special privileges for themselves (i.e., a Michigan hockey player's dad is allowed to attempt aggravated assault without repercussions against a Michigan State hockey player because of something that happened on the ice), and imagine nefarious conspiracies against them EVERYWHERE (I'm here via a link from 11 Warriors, and I don't know if you know this or not, but many Wolverine bloggers, including Brian @ MGo, have stated that they believe the re-sodded Ohio Stadium field was partly responsible for their 2006 loss to Ohio State. This is, of course, the same field that BOTH teams were stepping on for the FIRST time that November 2006 Saturday. Their belief further appears, if you read their writings closely, to be based on the fact that Lamar Woodley fell down once when Troy Smith juked him).
  • Its nice to see the shoe on the other foot for once. They're finally falling off their high horse and its just enjoyable to watch.
