LOI Update II
Ring up two more for Larry Johnson! From the very high school that brought you sensational program changing WR Derrick Williams, comes CB Stephon Morris.
Though he measures in at just 5-foot-9, Morris uses his moxy and phenomenal ball skills to establish himself on the field. He is often matched up with receivers who have a few inches on him.
He held offers from Tennessee, Illinois, Rutgers and Louisville and chose to come to Penn State. Ouch, looks like all that Rutgers talk was premature wasn’t it?
ATH Derrick Thomas has also sent in his LOI. He turned down scholarship offers from Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Illinois and Maryland.
He has all the skills necessary to excel at either the slot wideout position on offense or the cornerback position on defense. He has great hands, leaping ability and superb ball reactions. He also has a real nose for the football and isn’t afraid of contact.
He was recruited as a WR by Larry though. Welcome to the program guys.
[1:20 Update]
Shawney Kersey just sent in his LOI to the Lions.
Shawney Kersey
Wide receiver
Woodbury, N.J.
Woodbury HS
6-3, 193 pounds
Recruited by: Ron Vanderlinden
This was another Rutgers de-verbal turned into future Lion this recruiting season.
So much for only getting Rutger’s leftovers.
“Basically, I went to Rutgers for a visit, and I really didn’t fit in with the people,”
Nobody does Kersey, nobody does. Well unless you’re this guy.
[1:33 Update]
Nate Cadogan joins his brother by becoming a Nittany Lion. And for all the Jay Paterno detractors, take one good guess who recruited him? If you’ll be anything like your bother, we’ll be glad to see you in a Lions uniform Nate.
[1:34 Update]
Malcom Willis signs with the Nittany Lions. Another recruit by Larry Johnson in the state of Maryland, strong safety Malcom Willis is the teammate of Darrell Givens who should (barring any surprises) be signing his LOI with the Lions as well
[1:40 Update]
And just like that teammate of Malcom Willis, Darrell Givens just sent in his LOI to the Lions. First an Ohio State commit, he eventually switched to Penn State less than a month afterwards.
In his senior season, Givens was named first team all-Beltway, first team all-county and was invited to play in both the Crab Bowl – Maryland’s intrastate all-star game – and the ESPNU All-American Game in early-January.
[2:31 Update]
Jordan Hill picks Penn State. Another Larry Johnson recruits signs his LOI for the Lions after decommitting from Rutgers.
[2:37 Update]
Picking Penn State over Rutgers in the last uncalled battle for a recruit, Justin Brown signs his letter of intent to the Lions.
