Battle’n it out: Penn State drops to Purdue 47-61

There are cold streaks, then there are cold streaks.
No one could see this coming. Not even Talor Battle. 7 shots, 0 points. This after a 4 for 15 night against Wisconsin, including 6 missed 3-pointers.
One has to wonder if an injury is to blame.
| 1st | 2nd | Final | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Penn State | 26 | 21 | 47 |
| #20 Purdue | 28 | 33 | 61 |
Since scoring 29 points in an upset of the Spartans in East Lansing, Battle has since gone 7-38 from the field and 1 of 19 from the arc. That would account for a measly 15 points in 38 shot attempts in 3 games.
And playing 36 minutes, more than any other player on the team, maybe its time to show the kid a seat on the bench until he gets his shot back. Clearly fatigued and unable to assist the team with what it needs most, points, he is taking up valuable playing time from someone who can actually contribute right now. That, and he can get some much need rest from the grueling Big Ten schedule.
Let’s take a long, deep breath before we completely write off our tournament chances.
Sure Penn State is in the midst of a tough stretch of games (most of them away), but that also provides opportunities for the Lions to pick up some more quality wins.
The best thing about tough stretches is that there are no bad losses, only the opportunities for quality wins. With ranked Minnesota up next, the Lions get a chance at redemption and lets hope this cold streak ends.
