Programming Notes for Tourney Week

Hey, everybody. This is just a heads up for what you can expect from NittanyWhiteOut while you’re expecting [PSU to make the tournament, that is].
Here’s a rundown of what we’ll be running this week:
- We’ll be having a rundown of the Big Ten Bubble teams as we head into the Big Ten tournament, and a preview and follow-up of all the games, starting with Thursday’s showdown against Indiana.
- As soon as Penn State is eliminated, we’ll take a look at how we’re viewed around the country, and take a look at who our top competition will be for the final at-large spots in the NCAA tournament.
- And next Sunday, we’ll be hosting a NittanyWhiteOut first: live-blog coverage of Selection Sunday, so NittanyWhiteOut can be your one-stop shop for Penn State basketball and the NCAA tournament.
A last note to add to all our misery: Michigan State beat Purdue, so had Penn State been able to take care of business yesterday, we’d have the #2 seed in the Big Ten tournament. I don’t want to kill the team for that last half minute of play, but I don’t understand a) why Cornley wouldn’t foul Cole, who couldn’t hit a pair all day, and b) why Battle resigned himself to take a 30 footer when he had the lane open. Just a shame that he took a bad shot, kind of as if he was just accepting overtime and if he’d hit the three, it would’ve been dandy.
I don’t want to hear the excuse that they’re tired, because they had at least 3 or 4 stretches of phenomenal basketball. To force overtime from a 9-point deficit with 2 minutes left is ridiculous, but to let down your guard with 30 seconds left is unacceptable. The team choked, plain and simple. An absolute shame, because now we’ll need some help to make the NCAA tournament. Beat Iowa, and the Nittany Lions were all but guaranteed to be dancing.
