I'm not going to say that we had a better year than those other teams, but I can definitely say that as a fanbase, we are way happier. We just had a phenomenal run to win a championship, and our seniors are going out as winners. Let's not denigrate the other Big Ten teams (except maybe Minnesota), because they also had great seasons.

I'll have the gameday reaction piece up later.

Wow, I'm a Purdue fan and a fan of the Big Ten so I was really glad to see Penn St. get it done last night. But I really can't believe this article is trying to make Penn St.'s NIT title trump a NCAA tourney appearance. Next you are going to tell us that the winner of the 3rd tourney, the College basketball tourney(in which some teams are sub .500) or whatever it is called, is more relevant than someone that made the NIT. I felt Penn St. definitely deserved to be in the NCAA's but this article is just not good. Go back and watch the Purdue-Penn St. game in Happy Valley. Then tell me if you still think Penn St. dominated the Boilers. Are you sure you werent watching the other two games of the season where Purdue hammered Penn St.?

I agree with pdxmsu. Congrats on the NIT title. You did the Big 10 proud, but you don't need to denigrate the accomplishments of the rest of the league to feel proud about your team. MSU is still alive and kicking, Purdue made the Sweet Sixteen, and Wisconsin and Michigan both won first round games they were not supposed to and put up decent fights against tough second round opponents as well. Give them some credit.

Congrats and nice season, but the reality is that no one outside of Happy Valley gives a rip about the NIT. You're delusional if you think that UM, Purdue, Illinois, Minny, Ohio State (ok, I have to admit that loss to Siena wasn't good), and Wisky would rather win the NIT rather than go to the Big Dance. It's called that for a reason. If the B10 is remembered for anything this season it will be Izzo's signature win over Louisville last weekend.

It's kind of cool to pass the NIT Championship torch to Penn State.

That said, after considering the 2008 football season, I think I'm done passing the torch to Penn State ;) .

Congratulations anyways.
