What is Paul Jones thinking?!

Don't be fooled, this wasn't their spring game. Even less people show up to that. This was an actual in-season Pitt game at Heinz field.

Honestly kid, get your head screwed on right.

Jones apparently reopened his recruitment after verbaling to Penn State. That’s perfectly fine, a high school kid has to pick the school he’s most comfortable with. But the first place he visits after opening his recruitment?

Pittsburgh.

Seriously??

If playing in front of 50 fans and losing in unbelievable fashion excites you, sure, then Pittsburgh is perfect for you.

I mean what could be more thrilling to a college quarterback than throwing a TD in front of 50,000 yellow seats?

“The big thing is that Paul wants to stay closer to home,” said Sto-Rox coach Justin Ruscitto

Note to Paul Jones, State College is less than 3 hours away from Morgantown. Watching Godfather takes longer than that.

Charlie, maybe we shouldn’t be so harsh on the kid.

His mom, a frequent poster on the Scout.com message boards, said this, yesterday:

“In all fairness to those who have become used to my posts every now and then on Audibles…just want you to know that I’ve decided to stop posting to provide separation from “the fans” and PJ’s #1 fan…that being me! Just want to let you know that you should believe only half of what is written in most papers—just as a comment here can be spun, spun some more and then respun, it is often the case. The conversation between PJ and the reporter occured because the reporter called to “check PJ’s status/interest regarding participating in the UnderArmour Game as the final selections are being made”. Once the return call was made, it was apparent that that was not the purpose of the call…immediately leading PJ to be aloof—-commenting with “kind of” and “alright”. The only things he provided detail about were his intentions to be at PSU this weekend, the next and the next. The schools that were mentioned were the answer to the question of “what other schools are currently recruiting you”. Nothing more, nothing less.

I have to say that I am appreciative of the responses of most during this time—especially because as fans you are only given a small glimpse of what actually is going on. The fact that most have not been quick to judge is a remarkable testimony to the goodness of most (who probably remember what it was like to be 16). Even I have to admit that I was not always approving of PJ’s actions lately but have come to understand his feelings and will continue to guide him accordingly. As I have stated before, trust the abilities of the coaching staff and know that they will do what is best for PSU.

So, while there is no such thing as kind of pregnant—understand that PJ’s commitment stands until he states differently—kind of like telling your boyfriend/spouse your pregnant but keeping it a secret until your sure the pregnancy is going to last beyond the first months that are so crucial in a baby’s development. Trust the staff…they know what they are doing!”
