No, not as a member of the Nittany Lions.  As a member of the Syracuse Orange football team, in time for the Syracuse-Penn State matchup in September.  Seriously, you didn’t think I meant…yes, I know the title’s a little vague, but, hey, it does make sense.

Yeah, well, after Michigan stopped their recruitment of the former Duke point guard, some wondered about his future.  Would he jump to the NFL (probably not)?  Disappear from the public consciousness (please?)  Well, the Syracuse blog “Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician” (I don’t get it either) quotes ESPN sources that say that it’s “likely” for Paulus, who went to high school in Syracuse, to return to his old stomping grounds and take over the reigns at QB for new Syracuse coach Doug Marrone.

To quote TNIAAM:

The Paulusination of Syracuse is upon us

So says Joe Schad of ESPN.  There’s no story to link to just yet on ESPN but it’s working its way across the ESPN bottom scroll at the moment.

Tony Reali over at PTI has also said that Paulus-to-Cuse is at 95%, whatever that means.

Joe Schad tweets “To reiterate, Paulus to Syracuse likely. Not done, just likely. Might be done this weekend. Likely a great homecoming story.” So there you go.  Set your phasers to wait and see.

So, it’s not finalized, but Penn State might get a chance to beat down Paulus, who, even though I’m a Duke sympathizer, I still can’t stand.  It’s certainly not a bad move for Syracuse, who are, right now, possibly the worst BCS conference team in the country.  Quarterback play hasn’t exactly been their strong suit, either.  Former NBA-er Adrian Dantley’s son, Cameron, is the leader on the depth chart, and he completed a whopping 48% of his passes last season.  Andrew Robinson, who’s reportedly in competition for the starting spot, completing a Juice Williams-freshman season-esque 40% even.  Paulus probably couldn’t do much worse, even after taking off four years to play basketball.

And REJECTED.  Playing in the Beav, you’re gonna have that happen, plus get pinned to the ground by a 300 pound defender.

I really hope Paulus goes to Syracuse.  That would just make it really fun.
