Big Ten / ACC matchup 09′

Submitted by Charlie on April 23, 2009 – View Comments

The 2009 Big Ten/ACC matchups have been set. Here is what the matchups would look like with the conference records and standing from this past season.

Big Ten ACC
#4 Penn State 10-8 @ #11 Virginia 4-12
@ #11 Indiana 1-11 #7 Maryland 7-9
#1 Michigan State 15-3 @ #1 North Carolina 13-3
#9 Northwestern 8-10 @ #10 NC State 6-10
@ #10 Iowa 5-13 #9 Virginia Tech 7-9
@ #2 Purdue 11-7 #3 Wake Forest 11-5
@ #8 Michigan 9-9 #6 Boston College 9-7
@ #6 Wisconsin 10-8 #2 Duke 11-5
@ #5 Ohio State 10-8 #4 Florida State 10-6
#3 Illinois 11-7 @ #5 Clemson 9-7
#7 Minnesota 9-9 @ #8 Miami 7-9

Sure the record from last season is not a clear indication of how teams will perform in 2009,  but it does shed some logic behind the matchups. Based on the records this past season, the matchups seems to be fairly even 6-5 favoring the ACC, but with a few home court advantage tweaking, the matchups indicate a clear tossup with both conferences having an equal shot of success.

Yet somehow I just don’t see the Big Ten winning the Challenge this season. The ACC did win all previous 10.
