Luke Graham Commits to Penn State

In a day of twists and turns, it seems that the latest is completely unrelated to our last story. FightOnState is reporting that Harrison City (PA) lineman Luke Graham has committed to play for the Nittany Lions. Graham, who is not yet rated by either ESPN or Rivals, is rated as a 3-star prospect, and as the 9th best guard prospect in the class of 2010 by Scout.com.
Graham obviously has some bulking up to do, as is listed at a paltry 6′3, 245 pounds (Scout). Or 255 pounds (ESPN). Or maybe 260 pounds (Rivals). Well, no matter how much he weighs, he’ll need to gain some weight to play effectively at the next level. Still, Luke is held with high esteem by FightOnState:
Graham is a tremendously athletic 6-foot-5, 245-pounder. He has a 75-inch wingspan and has been timed at 4.98 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He is considered to have a serious upside.
The other information we have about Graham comes from a Nittany Network spotlight from this past February:
The 6-foot-6 and 255-pound Graham was a starter at offensive tackle his sophomore and junior seasons. He is a very good run blocker and equally adept in pass protection. Graham did not allow a sack this past season.
Graham is a fine all-around athlete. He has been a varsity starter on the Penn-Trafford basketball team since the beginning of his freshman season. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.9 seconds and might give track a try in the spring.
Oh yeah, and isn’t this pretty much the epitome of what you want to see in a recruit? In an interview with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Herald, Graham gave the following answers:
Q: Who is your favorite college football team?
A: Probably Penn State because I grew up watching them and my dad went there.
Q: What would a perfect day a Beaver Stadium be like for you?
A: A Saturday evening game against Ohio State and I’d be on the field at Penn State.

Graham is now the 5th commitment to Penn State’s recruiting class of 2010, and the 4th on the offensive side of the ball. He is the lowest rated prospect to commit to Penn State, but held other offers from Florida State, Pittsburgh, Stanford, Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, Duke, and Northwestern, among others. He’s got to be a smart kid when you consider some of his offers.
