Penn State Countdown: 89

324 wins.
Move aside Bear Bryant, there’s a new record holder in town.
Joe Paterno’s Lions withstood an early 27-9 deficit to win in come-from-behind fashion 29-27. Zack Mills willed the Lions to an improbable victory passing for 280 and running for 138 yards.
It came down to a final field goal block for Penn State to perserve the record setting win. Ohio State’s Mike Nugent 34-yarder was blocked by Penn State allowing Joe Paterno to set the all-time Division I-A victory record of 324.

I remember this game. What a breakout game for Zack Mills. Just too bad he just didn't get to match the success he had at this game the rest of his career.
Zack Mills was a trooper. Despite such a dismal win-loss record, he did not really have anyone to throw to. We were desperate enough to even try Michael Robinson out as a wideout. But in spite of the tough times, he continued to lead his team which is more than I can say for Morelli who had one of the top receiving units in the country during his stint at Penn State.
