Penn State Countdown: 84

While we’re on the theme of ending bad streaks, Moment number #84 comes as no surprise to Lion fans.

Heading into the 2008 showdown, Lion fans everywhere were reminded of their 9 game losing streak to that team up north despite being the better team in several of the previous matchups.

When the Wolverines raced to a 17-7 lead early in the second quarter, it seemed as if the Lions just could not get the Blue and Maize monkey off their backs. The Lions went into the half down 14-17 to the 23 and 1/2 point underdog Wolverines stunning the record crowd into silence.

What came in the second half sent the crowd into a frenzy when they sensed blood in the water and a victory over Michigan that was a long time coming. On consecutive possessions, Penn State pummeled the Wolverines for a safety, partially blocked punt, and a fumble eventually rolling up 29 unanswered points for the eventual 46-17 steamrolling of their long time nemesis for Paterno’s record 380th win.
