Penn State Countdown: 80

Submitted by Charlie on June 17, 2009 – View Comments

The night good prevailed over evil.

Heisman winner Vinny Testaverde and the juggernaut that was Miami met its match that fateful January night in the Fiesta Bowl.

No one gave Penn State a chance against the undefeated and #1 ranked Miami Hurricanes. Their swagger on and off the field spoke volumes about how the Cane felt about their Fiesta Bowl matchup when the entire team dressed up in army fatigues for a combined banquet.

5 interceptions later, Penn State lit the college world on fire by upsetting the indestructable Canes.

Do not for a second believe that the Hurricanes simply had an off day. They outgained Penn State offensively 445 to 162 yards offensively, but it was Penn State’s defensive stops especially its 5 interceptions that took down the Goliath.

What a night to remember.
