I Predict Shorter Tailgate Parties and Slower Filling Student Sections
Penn State has announced three kickoff times for the 2009 season. If you are a fan of early football games, then you will be happy.
The Nittany Lions will kick off their first three non-conference games at noon against Akron, Syracuse, and Temple. Here is an updated schedule with all announced times and television coverage to date;
| September | 5 | AKRON | 12:00 pm | Big Ten Network |
| September | 12 | SYRACUSE | 12:00 pm | BTN |
| September | 19 | TEMPLE | 12:00 pm | BTN |
| September | 26 | IOWA | 8:00 pm | ABC/ESPN |
| October | 3 | @ Illinois | TBA | |
| October | 10 | EASTERN ILLINOIS | TBA | |
| October | 17 | MINNESOTA | 3:30 pm | ABC/ESPN |
| October | 24 | @ Michigan | TBA | |
| October | 31 | @ Northwestern | 4:30pm | ESPN/ESPN2 |
| November | 7 | OHIO STATE | TBA | |
| November | 14 | INDIANA | TBA | |
| November | 21 | @ Michigan State | TBA |
Six games still need to have television rights and kickoff times assigned to them. At this stage, and not knowing if there are limits for appearances on a network and details of any contracts, I would guess that the Eastern Illinois game would be a lock for the Big Ten Network (BTN). Ohio State figures to be picked up by the ABC/ESPN team as well as the Michigan and Michigan State games.
The Indiana game could find a home on the Big Ten Network.
