Position Profile: Defensive Line
September 3, 2010 – | View Comments

With less than two weeks until Penn State takes on Youngstown State, the mixing and matching of the spring and summer is starting to die down. The starting lineup and rotation is mostly set, and we’re taking a look as just how each position stacks …

Perhaps we will see more of Brent Carter against Eastern Illinois?

With the Nittany Lions taking on Eastern Illinois I figured I would take a week off from the weekly Round Table. But since Will was kind enough to offer some quick questions and Zombie Nation and 2 the Lion already responded I figured I should follow suit.

I am not sure who will be participating this week, but here are the three four verbal commits for this week’s edition.

Penn State played its most complete game of the season thus far against Illinois. What pleased you the most about the performance?

Clearly the running game was the most satisfying development from last week. any time the team puts together over 300 yards of offense on the ground it is hard not to be happy. Stephfon Green woke up the offense after slugging through the first quarter and he showed that he should probably be getting ore touches out of the backfield.

Has your outlook on the season changed dramatically compared to this time last week? What about before the Iowa game?

Changed dramatically? No. I still expected the team to make a strong run for the Big Ten title even after the Iowa loss and my opinion has not changed since then. In fact I think I have more faith in my thinking than before.

There is no reason for this picture at all, much like there is no reason Penn State should be playing Eastern Illinois.

Eastern Illinois actually looks like a decent I-AA err FCS team, having been in that division’s top 25 this season. How long can they stay in it with Penn State?

Depends on whether Penn State starts the game on offense or defense. If by “stay in it” we are assuming “keeping Penn State off the scoreboard – which as you point out was damaged this week” then I would say about five minutes.

Lightning round

Will the scoreboard be fixed by Saturday? Some panels blew off in the wind on Wednesday. Yes

Anybody having luck selling their Eastern Illinois tickets at face value? I actually don’t have tickets, but my father is having trouble.

What is your favorite college football blog that isn’t about Penn State? Do they really exist??? I’d go with The Quad from the New York Times. But I’ll read almost anything that is put in front of me.
