Brad Bars Commits to PSU
Right now, you’re probably saying “Who the %@&# is Brad Bars?” And I can’t really help you, there. Depending on who you believe, he’s either a 6-4, 200 pound defensive end, a 6-3, 225 pound linebacker, or a 6-2, 215 pound linebacker. Yup, Bars is that kind of prospect, the one nobody knows a whole hell of a lot about.
Literally, the only scouting report any of the services have on Bars have is a one-sentence blurb at the bottom of his Scout profile:
Bars is a player who could stay as a linebacker but has the physical build college coaches may look to make a pass rush defensive end.
Here’s what we know about the kid:
He’s from Nashville, TN, and his other offers are from such powerhouses as Army, Harvard, and Central Michigan. He played in Max Emfinger’s International All-America Bowl Game, which as its website proclaims, is “BY INVITE ONLY” Emfinger actually ran a pretty nice story on Bars after his junior season over on his website, and while we can’t quote the whole thing, here are some points of interest:
On his highlight film, on the first ten plays, he made a tackle in the backfield or at the line of scrimmage. He actually ended the season with 56 solo tackles, 114 total tackles, had two interceptions, recovered four fumbles, caused six fumbles, and blocked two punts.
Now the amazing part of this story is that Bars (6-4, 225, 4.5) is a super, athletic player who can run a legit 4.5; do a 36 inch vertical jump; and a 4.3 in the pro-agility shuttle; but not one single team that he went to their camp offered him a scholarship.
In each camp that Bars went to, he was outstanding and in fact at a couple of them, he just bearly missed getting an MVP Award. No team offered, but the reason was not that he did not deserve an offer, but no school wanted to be the first BCSschool to extend an offer.
