National Signing Day Updates

Updated 3:42 PM

As today is National Signing Day for college football I figured we should start an open-thread type for the day that is already unfolding. I’ll try to keep this commitment board up to date as the letters of intent come in for the Nittany Lions.

Players highlighted in green are already enrolled and therefore do not need to submit a letter of intent. Players in blue have submitted their LOI, fulfilling their commitment to the Penn State program.

UPDATE (3:45 PM) – All verbal commitments to Penn State are now officially signed, with Vinh Vuong coming to the Nittany Lions as a preferred walk-on. Stay tuned for continuing coverage of the Class of 2010.

  • Charlie says:

Henderson just announced for the University of Southern California. That was the best scenario for Penn State fans, we do not want to see a player like that donning Scarlet and Gray or Maroon and Gold.

  • Charlie Charlie says:

Amazing class. I was really hoping for a last minute commitment from 5 star safety Keenan Allen. Surprising he ended up picking Cal over Penn State.

  • Junie Junie says:

Any word on Henderson yet? I'm slightly pleased Penn State currently has the top recruiting class in the league. That could change if Henderson picks the Vest.

  • Charlie Charlie says:

Interesting bit of information. Of Michigan's recruiting class 11 are from the state of Ohio.

  • Charlie Charlie says:

Per Rivals Henderson hasn't made a decision yet, word is he will eventually end up in Columbus though.

  • SanFTim SanFTim says:

Wow! What happened with Cal today. Rivals jumped them above us to the #10 spot overall just on LOI day. And now we are getting the best class in the B10 usually reserved for Michigan or Ohio State? A power shift is imminent.

  • Rahul Dangui Rahul Dangui says:

Think that's weird, take a look at Auburn. Rivals has them as the #3 overall, second best in SEC.

  • Jason Benston Jason Benston says:

Picking up Bolden was huge for this class. Being a kid from the state of Michigan, that was the only recruit I was nervous about for this class.

  • Charlie Charlie says:

It's great to watch Wolverine fans sweat on LOI day after the shenanigans Rich Rod pulled in seasons past. It is 1 hour past potential Michigan/FSU recruit, Dorsey's announcement time. Not a good sign.

  • Charlie Charlie says:

And just like that, Dorsey signed his LOI with the University of Michigan. http://michigan.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1047972

  • Junie Junie says:

What is taking Henderson so long! Just announce for the Gophers already

  • Charlie Charlie says:

Tennessee will announce that Justin Wilcox an extremely respected ass coach from Boise State as the new Volunteer's defensive coordinator today. That's a really smart hire.

  • Charlie Charlie says:

A little bit of non-recruiting news, the NCAA has responded to Michigan on alleged practice violations and the board of regents are meeting about it today

  • Karma Karma says:

This brings me tears of joy. Is that bad?

  • Charlie Charlie says:

Owamagbe Odighizuwa the 17th ranked player in ESPN 150 on television making his college choice now. Instead he is reading out what should be in his yearbook's senior profile. Pick a school already!

  • Charlie Charlie says:

“No. 8 player in the country, Owamagbe Odighizuwa, giving an Oscar speech before announcing his commitment” by Stewart Mandel of SI on twitter. My thoughts exactly.

  • Charlie Charlie says:

And finally! Owamagbe Odighizuwa picks Cal. What a LOI day for Cal!

  • Charlie Charlie says:

And finally! Owamagbe Odighizuwa picks the UCLA Bruins. Good luck to Bruin fans in pronouncing his name in the coming years.

  • Charlie Charlie says:

It's starting to wind down now, most players have signed their LOI in the B10 with the exception of Henderson and we are basically just waiting on Levi Norwood. Vuong is verbaled to Penn State, but did not hold a scholarship offer so there will not be a LOI. He will be regarded a preferred walk-on though. http://tinyurl.com/ygzbxu5

  • Jason Benston Jason Benston says:

Thank you and your staff for doing this for us. Its tough to go through the circus of comments found elsewhere and multiple websites for actual information. Appreciate the effort guys!

  • Charlie Charlie says:

And that's it folk, all LOIs have been signed and faxed to Penn State marking one of the best recruiting classes in almost a decade for the Nittany Lions. A full recap and Big Ten comparison will follow soon.

  • TonyT04 TonyT04 says:

Thanks for the updates. Ive been at work trying to keep my eye on work and on LOI's and you guys have been a huge help. Great looking class. Seems to hit all the positions we are in need of. Lets go state.

  • Charlie Charlie says:

S Henderson has just announced for the University of Southern Cal. That's great news and the best possibly scenario for Lion fans. One less player of that caliber we have to worry about playing across the field from us in conference.

  • SanFTim SanFTim says:

With Henderson leaving for the Pac 10, this solidifies our class as tops in the Big Ten no? Amazing news and congratulations all around to the coaching staff.
