New York Giants QB Eli Manning is disputing allegations of fraud being brought forward against him in a lawsuit by several New Jersey memorabilia dealers.
"I will say that I have never done what I've been accused of doing", the Giants quarterback said on Thursday. I have no reason to do anything of that nature.
"I've done nothing wrong and I have nothing to hide", Manning said. Attacking his integrity is something else, and his voice reflected that he was upset.
Just days ago, Brandon Steiner, who runs Steiner Sports, put out his own statement on Facebook Live.
"I have done everything the right way and have been a stand-up citizen and obviously you get - someone starts something up and everybody turns against you very quickly, it hurts a little bit", Manning said. "That's what I have done".
Three collectors are suing the Giants, Manning, Skiba, Steiner Sports and others alleging they were all in on the scheme.
His lawsuit against Manning and the Giants returned to the headlines recently when the plaintiff filed a motion to compel testimony. "That is it. Eli", Manning wrote to Skiba, according to the documents.
Manning insisted that email was taken out of context, adding some recent court filings will make that clear.
"I'm just more angry than anything ... having to deal with this and knowing that I did nothing wrong and (am) still being attacked".
"I'm handling it", Manning said.
He said he had not heard from the National Football League on the lawsuit as of yet and who knows if he ever will. The Giants quarterback failed to talk specifics of the incident, citing the ongoing legal case against him, which prevents him from discussing it publicly.
"A lot of times, we're not in the locker room, and there are a lot of leagues and teams that don't have authentication programs that really secure product", he said.
