IPL Live Score, Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians

IPL 2017 Buttler, Rana blitzkriegs eclipse Amla ton

Kings XI started IPL 2017 in impressive fashion, winning their first two games, both of which were played in their "home" ground at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.

Meanwhile, the match between the favourite teams like Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai Indians has turned nerve gripping after Hashim Amla's flawless shots and Glenn Maxwell's aggressive play has laid its fair impact on the field.

Kings XI Punjab were off to a decent start with Amla adding 46 runs for the first wicket with Shaun Marsh (26).

Manan Vohra's sublime 95 nearly papered over Kings XI's overseas players - Glenn Maxwell, David Miller, Eoin Morgan and Hashim Amla - scoring only 24 runs in the last match and it is this area that has been letting them down.

The England global reached the milestone in 24 balls with the help of seven fours and two sixes. But with the Mumbai Indians in really rampant mode, it may not be an easy job for them.

Buttler signalled the sort of explosive hitting that was to come from his blade when sending the sixth ball of Sandeep Sharma's opening over for six over deep midwicket. Skipper Rohit Sharma, who did not have an ideal start to the tournament, made a strong comeback in the previous match against Gujarat Lions with an unbeaten 40 off 29 deliveries, while Kieron Pollard continued with his fine run, scoring a quickfire 23-ball 39.

Amla, on the other hand, took full advantage of the life he got on 3, when he was dropped off a hard chance by Rana, to first get to a superb half century in just 34 balls. Kings XI Punjab, on the other hand, will have their task cut out against a strong Mumbai outfit. His valiant effort however ended in vain but Amla showed that age is just a number for him and he can still score runs in the shorter format.

This time it was Amla, who took the Sri Lankan slinger to the cleaners twice before fending off for two boundaries as the over yielded 21 runs.

After Parthiv Patel's dismissal, Jos Buttler was joined in the crease by Nitish Rana. The makeshift hosts had won their last two games here, after having opted to chase, but openers Hashim Amla and Shaun Marsh put inhibitions to rest with an onslaught of boundaries, giving an early insight into the nature of pitch.

Not until captain Glenn Maxwell joined Amla did Kings XI get back on track. Kieron Pollard's contribution to the side can not be undermined after his match-winning knock against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
