Pacers could have Glenn Robinson III back for Game 2

Indiana Pacers v Cleveland Cavaliers- Game One Pacers' Robinson III could play in Game 2

McMillan explained that Stephenson drew the assignment on Love because IN needed George to match up on Kyrie Irving, who torched IN for a game-high 37 points on 14-24 shooting.

James added 10 rebounds and seven assists, but had eight of Cleveland's 19 turnovers.

There were plenty of moments from James and Irving that stirred the crowd into a frenzy.

But the Cavs put the home fans through the ringer in a nervy finale as the Pacers punished a litany of mistakes to cut the gap to four points with 18 seconds remaining.

That matchup problem proved to be a turning point of the game.

The Cavs vowed they would play better after their near-disaster in Game 1 and they mostly backed up their talk, delivering the kind of performance that was routine last season but rare in 2017. Despite Kyrie's smooth moves and scoring spree, the Cavs came close to blowing this game, per ESPN.

James softened up the defense on drives, Irving kept Pacers point guard Jeff Teague on skates and Love buried almost every shot he took.

But in this case, it was a combination of the opponent's scheme and Love being more assertive on his part. "And I think we're right there on the cusp of doing that".

"We were trying to cool off Kyrie", McMillan said. "When they made a run offensively, we tried to get it back ourselves, but we just lost our poise". And they did not even give us a chance. They did a good job of recognizing that matchup, which they do.

"I thought he had a good look".

"When you win a championship, they always talk about you're the defending champions", Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue said on April 17 before the game. Just for the team.

After the Pacers fell apart against Cleveland in the third quarter, Paul George had this to say about his recently returned teammate. For all of the doubts about the Cavs defensively, they still are capable of putting up an offensive barrage that really only one team - the Warriors - can truly match in a head-to-head battle. We sorta believed him, because the Cavs had a top-10 defense previous year and featured players with strong defensive reputations like Tristan Thompson and Iman Shumpert. And the root of that is "I think we get exhausted at times".

That certain situation was just one of many. Love had averaged 11.1 rebounds per game in the regular season but had only four in Game One.

That question has plagued the Cavaliers for some time now, especially going back to January and March. But it's just about being a basketball player."Myles Turner, who was 0-for-5 in the first half, shot 1-for-2 in the third, sinking a face up jumper from the free throw line for his only basket of the period".

"We're right there, " James said.

In Game 3 on Thursday, look for Turner to come out and play more aggressively in front of the in fans.

They'll try to get it done when the series shifts to Indianapolis for game three on Thursday night.

As well, some home cooking of their own would go a long way for the Pacers, but it's going to ultimately come down to whether they can ever get a grasp on the Cavaliers offense to keep them from shooting a comfortable 55% all night.
