"If you're experiencing flu-like symptoms, you should immediately consult your doctor, especially if you have underlying health conditions".

In the last two weeks, three more Delawareans have passed away from complications related to influenza: a 53-year-old woman and an 88-year-old woman, both from New Castle County, and a 45-year-old Kent County man, health officials said.

Health officials said the increase in flu death numbers this week is due to late reports on deaths that occurred mostly at the end of January through the beginning of February.

However, they say the total number of deaths from the virus this season stands at 90, which is still higher than last week's numbers. There were six fatalities a year ago, officials said.

Two children age 4 or younger have died as a result of the flu, one child age 5-17, eight adults aged 18-49, and 17 adults aged 50-64.

Tulsa County has had 20 deaths.

According to the health department, the number of flu-associated hospitalizations continues to drop.

For more information on flu prevention and treatment, visit the Delaware Department of Public Health's website. "The flu vaccine is still the best method of protection and recommended for everyone six months of age and older".
