The Red Sox had to play catch-up after the Brewers got to Drew Pomeranz (3-2) in the first.

Kyle Kendrick is now filling the position but gave up six runs over four innings in his first start.

Broxton finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored and four rbi's.

Betts and Dustin Pedroia hit back-to-back RBI doubles to chase Wily Peralta with one out in a three-run fifth to help the Red Sox close a five-run deficit.

However, the Brewers would get it right bacon the bottom of the sixth with three more runs to take a 9-4 lead. If he can, the Red Sox will add a valuable weapon to the top of their rotation.

Brewers starter Chase Anderson needed 99 pitches to get through 4 2/3 innings, allowing nine hits and two runs.

Price (elbow) is scheduled to make his first rehab start with Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports. A version of these highlights is posted on the site of the new, yet-to-be-formally-named Worcester Baseballteam of the three-year-old Futures Collegiate Baseball League. So far in May he's hitting.476 with a.542 OBP, two homers, six driven in, two steals and five runs scored. He knocked home Christian Vazquez who doubled (his fifth of the season) to left field with one out. Still, I'm not ready to trust Nelson just yet, so I'll take the Red Sox for the win here.

Scahill gave the Brewers' pen a huge lift by going 2.1 innings, allowing no hits while walking two. He said that since he and Jones have both played in the AL East for years, it is likely that they have had different experiences.

While Red Sox skipper John Farrell made clear that Price will need to make at least two rehab starts, he did suggest it's possible he won't need a third.

As of this post, numberFire's models project Price to twirl a 4.12 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 19.6 strikeout percentage in 172 1/3 innings this season. He strained his right calf running to first base three innings into his Opening Day start and has been sidelined since.

The man who taunted Jones has not been identified, but the Red Sox did issue a lifetime ban at Fenway Park to a fan who used a racial slur the next night after a woman of Kenyan descent sang the national anthem.
