Freed girls to meet parents Friday, suspected girl bomber recounts ordeal More than 80 girls are freed in a Boko Haram prisoner swap

"I have never talked to one of the girls about their reasons", said Mustapha, who acted as the intermediary in the negotiations between the government and Boko Haram.

Last Saturday (May 6) about 82 girls were freed in exchange for Boko Haram commanders after being held captive for three years.

The latest group of girls, who have been taken to a government facility in the capital, are expected to be reunited with their parents in the coming days.

When they were released in October 2016, she was chosen by Boko Haram to read out the names of the other 20 women from a list. While some were able to escape on their own, others died from illness.

"In addition to the girls there are four babies, also in the care of the government".

The Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, who is coordinating the rehabilitation of the Chibok girls, could not be reached on the telephone as she did not return calls to her telephone while she had yet to respond to a text message as of the time of filing this report.

Presidential aide Bashir Ahmad also confirmed the rescue on Twitter, saying the girl was "found by Nigerian troops while she was escaping from captivity". "I learnt she is already being brought to Abuja but I have not seen her", he told reporters. "I have a husband'". So, he said they would come and pick me today.

"The girls have also been scheduled for quarterly visits back home to Chibok, subject to security clearance by the authorities", the statement said. Many of the Chibok girls were Christian, but were encouraged to convert to Islam and to marry their kidnappers during their time in captivity. Human rights advocates also fear some of the girls have been used by the extremist organization to carry out suicide bombings.

Eleven farmers have been killed in Amarwa village in Konduga LGA, after Boko Haram insurgents reportedly stormed the village in search of food.

The United Nations has said about $1 billion is required for the Nigerian states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa this year but funding so far is well short of that goal, despite warnings of famine-like conditions in parts of the region.

Boko Haram, which has been active in northeast Nigeria since 2009, wants to create a special Islamic state in the country, as well as in bordering regions of Cameroon, Chad and Niger.

According to the Chairman, Chibok Community in Abuja, Hosea Tsambido, the Federal Government has invited parents of the recently freed Chibok girls to meet with their daughters on Friday.

They were released to global negotiators who have been working in collaboration with the federal government for their safe return since they were kidnapped in April 2014.
