Joneic wrote that on Saturday, after driving home from a swim meet, she heard her daughter, Britton, making retching noises in the backseat.

"Looking back in the mirror, I saw her face turning red and drool pouring from her mouth".

A Facebook post shared by a Texas mother is warning others of the dangers of children choking on parts of toys.

After unsuccessful Heimlich attempts, Kelly took Britton to an urgent care but doctors couldn't locate the missing piece and called an ambulance, bound for Texas Children's hospital.

Joniec said surgeons were able to endoscopically remove the spinner bushing from her daughter's throat.

A fidget spinner has two or three paddles that can be spun, similar to a fan, which in theory, allows people to relax.

Doctors were unable to tell where the object had gotten stuck.

"Fortunately we had a positive outcome, but it was pretty scary there for a while", Joniec noted.

If you know a middle school kid, or a parent or teacher of one, chances are you've seen the simple little colorful device that's driving them all insane lately.

Joniec had a word of caution for parents about the toy, which originally was designed as a therapeutic tool for kids with ADHD and autism.

"Not all spinners come with age-appropriate warnings".

A 10-YEAR-OLD girl is lucky to be alive after a piece of her fidget spinner - the latest must-have toy for kids - became lodged in her throat. "The bushings pop out easily, so if you have young kids (under 8 yr old) keep in mind that these present a potential choking hazard".

Some Facebook users have questioned the quality of the fidget spinner in question. "Not for children under 3 years".

Not to mention they are a major choking hazard, particularly for toddlers who are prone to put all sorts of random things in their mouths.

Fidget spinners, which are made of plastic, metal and contain a ball bearing, have been banned from many classrooms, with teachers claiming the toy distracts them rather than helps them study.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission agrees: "Anything with small parts, keep it away from young children".
