
Governor Terry Branstad ordered the flags to be lowered from sunrise to sunset in honor of Pottawattamie Sheriff's Deputy Mark Burbridge, who was killed in the line of duty on May 1.
Burbridge was an officer with the Denison Police Department for four-years before joining the Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office.
The funeral for Deputy Burbridge will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs. It will be open to the public.

According to an Omaha World-Herald story, on Wednesday, May 10, Correa-Carmenaty appeared at the Douglas County Courthouse in Omaha where bail was set at $10 million on Douglas County charges of kidnapping, use of a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and operating a vehicle to avoid arrest.
Correa-Carmenaty then carjacked a 31-year-old woman at gunpoint and drove over the Missouri River into Omaha, Nebraska, where he dropped the woman off unharmed at a liquor store, authorities said.
Authorities are still working to determine how Correa-Carmenaty obtained the gun and whether he had been able to free himself from his shackles during the ride back from court.
He faces charges of murder, attempted murder and other charges related to the escape.
