Wizards guard John Wall drained a game-winning three for Washington with just three seconds left in the 92-91 victory, and didn't appreciate the Celtics playing copycat before the game.

In the first quarter, the Celtics led the Wizards 15-0 in transition points, a surprising statistic given just how good Wall is at orchestrating that part of the game.

The winners of game seven will face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Washington, which had lost seven straight elimination games at home, prevailed despite shooting 5 of 24 on 3-pointers and 43 percent overall.

Wall was ice-cold for the first three quarters before heating up when it mattered most.

Isaiah Thomas had one last shot for the win, but his tightly contested, off-balance 3-pointer was off the mark as time expired. For a time, it seemed like the fourth quarter would belong to him like it had on so many other occasions this season. He scored 13 in the period as Washington entered the fourth trailing 69-66.

Lopsided results dominated the first postseason series between Boston and Washington since 1984 with each game decided by at least 10 points.

"I'm going to talk to my lawyers".

After all the bickering and shoving and now each side wearing black to a game just to prove that the joy of third grade never really leaves you, the C's and Wiz will push their season's chips to the middle of the parquet floor at 8 o'clock Monday night. This will limit Washington's opportunities to quicken the game.

Asked about his players' sartorial selections - and his own choice of a white shirt - Boston's Brad Stevens said: "I'm not on the text chain". For us to already go through that against a very good team [in the Chicago Bulls], against an intense crowd.

After Al Horford banked home a 16-foot jumper with 7.7 seconds to play to snap an 89-89 tie, Wall responded while capping a 26-point night in which he had struggled while making only nine of 25 shots.

The Celtics got off to a bad start, going 4 for 17 in the first quarter and not making a field goal over the final 5½ minutes or so.

If the Celtics can limit their turnover total to single digits, then Boston has a real chance of suppressing the Wizards from going on another one of their gargantuan scoring runs.

-Gortat picked up two fouls and had to leave the game.

-Neither team shot the ball well from three-point range, but that didn't make either bashful.

If only Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier, and Jaylen Brown hadn't combined to go 0-for-11 off the bench. His offensive rebound with 45 second left led to a Crowder layup that tied the game.

In an ugly Game 6 of this Eastern Conference semifinal series, the Wizards were on the brink of being eliminated.
