McGregor terms set; talks shift to Mayweather

Vera Richards | 20 May, 2017, 00:48

McGregor's a fighter. I'm a fighter.

As time went on and McGregor made serious commitments to a possible fight, the idea of the match began to excite more and more fans. "Of course we would", he told the Los Angeles Times in February.

The documents needed for McGregor to receive his license are related to medical exams and physical requirements.

McGregor had already received a boxing license for California but his latest move opens the door for the potential McGregor-Mayweather bout to end up in Las Vegas. The process for the boxing license is virtually the same as the one to compete in MMA.

Before you pat McGregor on the back, can you figure out what's wrong with the photo?

"These boxing promoters will constantly show video of the heavyweight champion of the world, Stipe Miocic, getting slept by Anthony Joshua".

"Look, James Toney fought in the UFC and got beat", Cormier recalled. But I'm sure Mayweather is still in top shape as he still trains boxers such as up and coming boxer Gervonta Davis.

"He's proven that he can fight as a stand-up fighter".

Despite his pessimism over the event, Malignaggi believes the interest in the fight could see it become the biggest grossing fight in boxing, eclipsing the interest generated in Mayweather's bout with Manny Pacquiao in May 2015. But his plan now is to try to lure Mayweather out retirement for a superfight with McGregor.

For his part, Mayweather was not in a mood Thursday to discuss the fight. Congratulations to all parties involved.

UFC president Dana White announced on Wednesday he'd struck a deal with McGregor on the lucrative fight and would now turn his attention to Mayweather and the fighter's advisor, Al Haymon. "I'm starting to work on the Mayweather side now".

Speculation about the megafight started one year ago in May when Mayweather threw the first figurative swing by confirming a rumor saying he would come out of retirement to square off against McGregor.

Both McGregor and Mayweather have openly courted the match-up in the media in recent months.

McGregor confirmed the deal in a statement released to Themaclife.com.

McGregor, 28, hasn't fought since he defeated Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 in November 2016.
