Police make fresh arrest over Manchester bombing

Debra Rodriguez | 31 May, 2017, 05:25

Interior Minister Amber Rudd said the review was the "right first step" for the intelligence agency to take in the wake of the May 22 bombing that left 22 people dead after a concert by American singer Ariana Grande.

Although detectives have no reason to believe the bag contains anything unsafe, they are warning the public not to approach it, and instead call 999 immediately.

Manchester City Council called a vigil in the center of the northwest English city at 2131 GMT - the exact moment that 22-year-old Salman Abedi detonated his bomb outside a pop concert by teen idol Ariana Grande in one of Europe's biggest indoor arenas.

Anti-terror police raided more homes on Monday as the relentless search for the network behind the suicide bombing continued a week on from the deadly attack.

There are now 14 suspects in police custody in connection with the bombing, including a 23-year-old "trainee pilot" who was arrested early Monday in Shoreham-by-Sea, Sussex, British media reported. In addition, the BBC reported that the authorities received at least three warnings about Abedi's intentions since January.

SaharaReporters learned that the Greater Manchester Police had executed search warrants at Whalley Range area of Manchester and in Chester after midnight on Sunday while a separate report was being prepared for ministers and those who oversee the work of the service.

This is a different item than the one he used in the attack.

It dropped, as 48 investors sold Paypoint plc shares while 91 reduced holdings. 88 funds opened positions while 331 raised stakes. The stock of Admiral Group plc (LON:ADM) earned "Underperform" rating by Macquarie Research on Thursday, January 12.

A senior Whitehall source previously has said Abedi was a "former subject of interest" to the security services whose risk "remained subject to review".

Abedi could be seen wearing jeans and trainers, a black bodywarmer and a baseball cap, with the straps of the backpack believed to contain the bomb visible on his shoulders.

The police released an image of the bomber carrying a distinctive blue suitcase and an image of a replica of the case as they appealed for information about his final days. This image was taken from CCTV in the city centre on 22 May.

They also reported that people who knew Abedi raised concerns years before he carried out the attack.

With the latest arrests, the number of those in custody in this connection has gone up to 13. Two of the 16 suspects have been released without charge, according to police.

Prime Minister Theresa May said developments in the investigation into the bombing meant that intelligence experts had made a decision to lower the threat level from its highest rating "critical", meaning an attack could be imminent, to "severe".

Abedi's elder brother Ismail reportedly is among the suspects being held in Britain, while his younger brother and father have been detained in Libya.
