The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) announced today that the state's seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate decreased to 5 percent in April, down one-tenth of a percentage point from 5.1 percent in March.

In 2015, total jobs created was 1.55 lakh and in 2016 (April-December), total jobs created was 2.31 lakh in numbers.

Kentucky's seasonally adjusted preliminary April unemployment rate was 5.1 percent, according to the Office of Employment and Training, an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

CT now has recovered 89,000 of the 119,100 jobs lost in the last recession or just under 75 percent.

The construction and mining industry supersector led gainers last month, while the professional and business services supersector was the largest declining industry supersector last month, said labor department research director Andy Condon. Since April 2016, nonagricultural employment in CT grew by 5,500 jobs, or 0.3 percent, to almost 1.7 million.

Akers said that the unemployment rate increased because more people are entering the labor market.

The state's labor force rose to 3.69 million - an increase of 3,400 people from the previous month. The job losses were offset somewhat by gains in manufacturing, 2,200; information services, 1,800; other services, including fix and maintenance, 1,600; and government, 1,300.

Private sector employment decreased by 700 and government employment increased by 1,900 jobs in April. The sector comprises the largest contributor to job losses in 2017, according to state labor officials.

Since April 2016, manufacturing was up 4,200 jobs or 1.7 percent.

Another unemployment measure, known as U-6, fell to 8 percent in April - down from 10.4 percent a year ago.

The 37,400-strong jump in jobs boosted the Australian dollar AUD=D4 which rose a third of a USA cent to a two-week high. Every metro area in the state experienced increases in their job numbers. The figure includes discouraged workers who stopped looking as well as part-time workers who want but can't get full-time jobs.
