58 presumed dead in London tower fire

The massive fire ripped through the 24-floor block of flats in west London.

The upper floors of Grenfell Tower sustained significant damage, he says, and "the sad reality is that this work will take some time, stretching into many, many weeks". The protesters were angered when no one from the council came out to address their concerns, reporters said.

Theresa May has sought to quell anger over the Grenfell Tower disaster by inviting survivors to Downing Street - after the embattled PM was forced to flee crowds of furious residents on Friday.

They said he was a "very incredible and kind person" who "came to the United Kingdom because he had ambitions and aims for his life and for his family".

Two nearby Underground lines were partially shut down Saturday in the fire area to make sure that debris did not land on the tracks.

The fire, which started just before 1:00am on Wednesday, surprised many as they slept and the speed with which it spread shocked fire experts. "They have been left with nothing - no bank cards, no money, no means of caring for their children or relatives". She announced the inquiry shortly after Mr Khan, the Mayor, asked for one, and as questions arose about the role of Mr Gavin Barwell, who was housing minister until last week. People have lost their lives and others have lost everything, all their possessions, their home and everything.

The Queen said in a statement that she was "profoundly struck by the immediate inclination of people throughout the country to offer comfort and support to those in desperate need". Protests were held in London on Friday as residents demanded more support for those affected by the fire, BBC reported.

Her second visit ended with jeers from local residents whose frustration was confounded when the PM was quickly ushered into a vehicle after visiting a local church where help was being organised.

"The local community feels their grief has been made worse by the lack of information about their missing family members and friends", he wrote.

'We are now looking to source interim accommodation for those Grenfell Tower residents and also trying to assist, where possible, elderly and vulnerable residents from surrounding areas who have been unable to return to their homes due to the safety cordon'.

However, Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, who was London mayor until past year, took to Facebook to attack opposition Labour politicians for "political game playing".

"That's one of the most awful things I have ever seen", Prince William said of the tower's blackened shell.

Scotland Yard is leading the criminal investigation into the fire at Grenfell Tower to establish the exact cause of the fire.

No further survivors are expected to be found and criticism continues to mount for Prime Minister Theresa May's response to the tragedy.

London Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton said her crews had identified a "number" of those killed, "but we know there will be more".

Police also confirmed the first victim of the Grenfell Tower disaster has been formally identified as Mohammed Al Haj Ali.
