Apps are the beating heart of our smartphones. Now Apple has kept its words and made the latest version of App Store Review Guide makes it mandatory for developers to use App Store rating API.
In ExtraBITS this week, scam apps seem to be making big money in the App Store, iOS review prompts are becoming less annoying, Apple is positioning the iPad for a comeback, and the company has announced the 2017 Apple Design Award winners.

Under the new rules, developers will no longer be able to display review prompts however and whenever they'd like. It's one of the most egregious things an app developer can do, but Apple now plans massively restrain the review prompt system to help protect users. The changes were first spotted by 9to5Mac. A user can only receive the prompt three times per year. Chinese livestreaming video apps, including Yizhibo and Yinke, have heavily used the feature to allow users to send virtual gifts to performers.
Earlier in order to rate some app users were forced to leave the app and visit App store for rating the app which was time-consuming and inconvenient.
This is great news for developers who had previously found Apple cracking down on tipping, but it's also good news for Apple's finances. It may even make people more interested in leaving a review, because it can be done without exiting the app and because it means they'll be done with the prompt for good.
