Costa: I am not in Conte's plans

Vera Richards | 21 June, 2017, 01:08

Rio de Janeiro, June 13 (IANS) Spain global striker Diego Costa could join reigning Brazilian Serie A champions Palmeiras after falling out of favour at English football club Chelsea, according to media reports.

"Atletico is among them, it would not mean not playing, they can loan me out to some team in Spain, Brazil or wherever, but I have to play".

Manchester United and Arsenal are also both on the hunt for a top hitman. But if he doesn't want me there, then I will have to look for a new team. The Belgium had his best Premier League season a year ago netting 25 goals.

"You can ask him (Antonio Conte) about what it is that has happened, but it's not good".

Furthermore, the fact that Chelsea will now nearly certainly be losing their leading centre forward for next season, will only harden Everton's resolve to squeeze as much money as possible out of them in their own negotiations over Lukaku's return to Stamford Bridge. The fight for the place has to be fair to stay and fight, but the fight is not fair and I have to leave. I have to wait for the club's decision.

"It would be nice to Atletico, but there is a lot to think about". Let's hope all those offers aren't just from the Chinese Super League, a destination that could prove as problematic as five months on the bench in the run up to next year's World Cup.

Chelsea are disappointed their maverick star went public and there is no way back for him. If Lukaku does in fact make a return to Chelsea, will Conte change his formation to having two strikers?

Who will Chelsea sign to replace Costa?

Costa also revealed about his worn out relationship with Conte.

With Chelsea communicating that the player is not required and Costa making a statement that he is looking for a club, it is unlikely that Chelsea will slap an exorbitant price tag on him.

But the Spaniard has the backing of several team-mates who believe Conte should have told him in person that his Chelsea career was over.

Now that it's known he is no longer part of Conte's plan, Chelsea's hand has been severely weakened.

Felipe Melo, for example, has left Inter Milan to join Palmeiras earlier this year.
