'Spider-Man: Homecoming': How Much of a Game Changer Is the Ending?

Review: 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' brings back the comic book fun Spider-Man: Homecoming (Spoiler Free) Review – Welcome Home to the MCU, Spidey

It's exciting to see where future Homecoming movies will go now that May knows Peter is Spider-Man and how she chooses to deal with that information.

The "Homecoming" of the title, besides being a play on another return of Spider-Man, literally pertains to an upcoming homecoming dance at school, which the script (credited to a team of six writers) rightfully plays as a big event in Parker's life.

For those not interested in superhero fare, the highly regarded romantic comedy "The Big Sick" also arrives this week, as does the post-apocalyptic indie drama "The Survivalist". Our campaign spread the "wow moment" of AR across 15 pieces of film collateral and partner content. Fans could point their smartphone at the movie poster, a Carl's Jr standee, an Entertainment Weekly magazine and even the PlayStation game over to make Spidey appear in AR. In an interview with Newsarama at the time, Bendis said part of the inspiration for the character came from Donald Glover announcing on Twitter that he wanted to play Spider-Man. Spider-Man: Homecoming is, in my opinion, the best Spider-Man movie ever made. I was like, "I would like him to be Spider-Man". Zendaya manages to pack the character with abundant personality in the few scenes she has, strongly piquing our interest to see what she can do with a bigger role in the next installment.

The movie hits theaters on July 7, and it can already be deemed a huge success, thanks to the glowing critical reactions it's received. Well, you can expect that people will have thoughts - and won't be afraid to share them. Most parents (and governments) would be less than thrilled with that decision.

What he doesn't know is that for eight years, there has been a supervillain emerging in his town in the form of a wronged construction worker, Adrian (Michael Keaton), who chose to break bad after losing a job to a government crew that clears post-superhero fight disaster areas. Holland succeeds at being a plucky and invincible youngster who has to find his stride and understand what it takes to be a hero. Keaton brings the chops here and his duality as both a working class guy doing right by his family and evil supervillain weapons distributor make him probably the best one off Marvel villain since Red Skull in Captain America and the best Spidey villain since Alfred Molina's Dr. Octopus is SM2. This may sound like previous poor entries have tainted my views, inflating the quality of Homecoming. "That's her name. I promise you I'm not lying". It's action packed, heartwarming, funny, and everything about the movie feels genuine, something that gets lost a little on the grand scale that some of the Marvel films have reached. But just the aspect of someone else being Spider-Man, and having a different place where they're coming from, to analyze what it means to be Spider-Man, and what it means in this world, versus the world that Spider-Man was originally created in - even the world Ultimate Spider-Man was created in was different. If you weren't excited about this release before, you should be. Despite the presence of Iron Man as a looming shadow over Spider-Man's heroics, Spider-Man: Homecoming endured nonetheless on charm and creativity rather than overwrought plot and cartoon violence.
