The four children killed were identified as Isabela Martinez, 10; Dacota Romero, 7; Dillan Romero, 4; and Axel Romero, 2.

Martinez's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, July 20.

Isabel Cartuna Martinez, 31, appeared in court and her unusual actions prompted the judge's advice.

"We continue to pray for Diana's recovery both physically and emotionally as she learns about what happened to her", the statement said.

- Family members of the man and four young children who officers found stabbed to death in Gwinnett County Thursday morning are trying to raise money for the sole survivor and to pay for funeral expenses for five other loved ones.

Pihera said Martinez was cooperative with police investigators, but the motive behind the crimes is not being released. "She was good, went to our church last weekend".

Isabel Martinez, 33, appeared before Gwinnett County Magistrate Court Judge Michael Thorpe a day after police said she stabbed the five to death and seriously injured another child at her home. But because it was her first encounter with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), it was unknown how long she has been the country, according to Bryan Cox, a spokesman for the agency. Police believe Martinez made the call. However, when the judge listed the charges, she shook her face head "no" and flapped her finger at him.

Isabel Cartuna Martinez, 31, appeared in court and her unusual actions prompted the judge to advise her not to "put on a display to the cameras".

Police said a fifth child, a girl, survived with serious injuries.

Authorities in Georgia charged 33-year-old Isabel Martinez on Thursday afternoon with five counts of malice murder, five counts of murder and six counts of aggravated assault, hours after police said she called 911 to report the killings from the home the family shared outside Atlanta.

Thorpe advised Martinez to hire a lawyer or to allow one to be appointed for her.

When asked why did not want legal representation, she said that she was there to represent people who are "humble and hardworking; people who suffer" and that God would take care of her.

Some neighbors in the small, largely Hispanic neighborhood in Loganville, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) east of Atlanta, said the Spanish-speaking family had moved to the community recently.
