If you are one of the 416,310 students to have secured a university place then it's a time for celebration.

If you've impressed the call handler, they will make you a verbal offer, followed by confirmation in writing.

If your firm offer has been confirmed - make sure you contact the college or university to confirm your place.

The Clearing phone lines are now open at the University, with places available on a wide variety of subject areas for those who may not have got the grades they were expecting.

The university also offers a live chat services so course seekers can make instant contact with the Greenwich team of trained clearing advisers.

"The Clearing process has changed significantly in recent years and the option to "trade up" using Adjustment now gives students the opportunity to reconsider their original choice if they have done better than expected in their exams".

In a Daily Mail survey, Sheffield was making "most" courses available for students going through clearing and will guarantee accommodation to any students coming through the process.

More than 4,000 spaces were advertised on the Ucas website, with places still available on competitive courses including medicine, law, English, maths and the sciences.
