Amid reports of Chinese troops transgressing nearly a kilometre into Indian territory in Barahoti of Uttarakhand last week, sources said on Monday that similar incidents have occurred in the past too and have been sorted out locally.

Summary: "People of India are being fooled by both Union and state governments on the former's claim of the Chinese incursion along Barahoti border area". There were two incidents about a year ago.

Sources say that, the soldiers came up to 800m to 1 km into Indian territory.

It is reported that there were about 200-300 Chinese soldiers.

CHINESE soldiers transgressed into Indian territory twice this month in the Barahoti sector of Uttarakhand but the incidents were downplayed by Indian officials on Monday, saying these should not be given "undue importance".

The area is a declared disputed area and a demilitarised zone. It may be recalled that the Barahoti area has been regularly targeted by Chinese troops and several incursions have been reported in the past. ITBP men dressed in civil dress accompany revenue officials who go to this area for official purposes.

Since there's a lot of time remaining for the action, the players of Team India made a decision to blow some steam off. Debutant Danushka Gunathilaka was out for two, hitting Umesh Yadav straight to Cheteshwar Pujara at square leg.

This incident comes amid severe tensions between India and China resulting from the Doklam standoff. "Also China has border issues with all its neighbours and such invasions or transgressions occur because of the perception that they have about the extent of their territory". The standoff at Doklam was staged by China at the request of Pakistan to divert India's attention to unnecessary matters.

Accusing India of manipulating Bhutan, the Global Times said, "Has New Delhi ever considered the will of Bhutan, an independent state? It would be wise for India to pull back its troops as soon as possible, instead of just beating around the bush or bargaining with China in the name of Bhutan". This time they brought bulldozers and excavators and their intention is to reach the trijunction.

China has said Indian troops should "unconditionally" withdraw to the Indian side before talks can start on the dispute.

"They want to end the status quo of this trijunction unilaterally", she added.

Swaraj said China must also pull back its troops for any dialogue to happen.
