Jaitley calls RSS worker's murder 'barbaric'

Uproar in Kerala assembly over political violence Kerala assembly

Union Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday paid a visit to the family of RSS workers Rajesh who was recently hacked to death in Kerala. A series of violent incident between RSS activists and CPM members rocked Thiruvanathauram last week, which culminated in the killing of Rajesh, a 34-year-old swayansevak.

Jaitely's visit is widely seen as an attempt by the BJP to bring to national focus the issue of alleged increasing attacks on party cadres by the CPI-M. The BJP alleged that the CPM was behind the murder, a charge denied by the ruling party. Rajesh belonged to a poor family and now his family has no means of a livelihood. This kind of violence will neither suppress ideology in Kerala nor it will be able to scare our workers.

Addressing a press conference here, CPM State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said the two-day meeting beginning on September 23 will conclude with a public rally the next day. "He should also hear their grievances", LDF convenor Vaikkom Viswan was quoted by Times of India as saying. The commission also directed the state government to take necessary steps to stop incidents of lynching. The goal of Arun Jaitley's visit is very clear. But, Arun Jaitley is not just a BJP leader. "It has been an extremely smooth turnover without any disruption" the Union Finance Minister told reporters here. "He should act as the minister of all the citizens of the country", he added.

Jaitley offered to meet families of Left activists who too have suffered violence. Jaitley said, whenever the LDF came to power, political violence in Kerala has always increased. I have met the relatives of those who had lost their lives, victims who were critically injured and others who had been terrorised.

ASEAN, China officially approve draft COC framework
They said they have tasked senior officials to start negotiating on the Code of Conduct with China . The role of the Philippines as 2017 chair of Asean has helped China keep a lid on discord.

The veteran BJP politician blamed the CPI (M) for the political attacks in the state on the RSS-BJP members.

After the issue surfaced in the media, the BJP dismissed R S Vinod, convener of BJPs co-operative cell in the state, whose name was mentioned in the purported party report.

Chennai: The recent political violence and controversy generated by Kerala governor P Sathasivam's move in summoning chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan to Raj Bhavan following the murder of a RSS activist in Thiruvananthapuram seemingly fails to subside.
