Manchester City are preparing to offer Raheem Sterling in a player-plus-cash deal for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, sources close to the England global have told ESPN FC.

The 28-year-old is thought to be the subject of a stunning bid from City, who are apparently offering Raheem Sterling to Arsenal as part of a deal after pursuing him all summer.

The Mirror have broken the news of the potential deal in the last few minutes.

What might Chelsea's starting XI look like after transfer deadline day?

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is asked whether he thinks a deal for Alexis Sanchez is still possible.

Arsenal have so-far refused to allow Sanchez to leave the club, despite the Chile worldwide only having a year left on his contract, but a bid £70 million or more could prove tempting for a player who is likely to leave for free next summer.

Uber selects Dara Khosrowshahi as new CEO to replace Travis Kalanick
The Uber board of directors has been meeting daily and deliberated on its pick for CEO throughout the weekend. Though Uber's business has been unaffected by all this, Kalanick's style of management came under scrutiny.

England winger Sterling signed from Liverpool for £49million in 2015 and has made a strong start to the season with two goals in City's opening three Premier League games.

City's deal would at least allow the Gunners to earn some money from Sanchez's departure while also bringing in a player with plenty of Premier League experience to help replace the Chilean.

City however are not interested in that and have already said "no" to the idea of letting Sterling or Aguero leave, and believe they can put together the kind of cash offer that will ultimately persuade Arsenal to sell.

Sterling, of course, was sent off last weekend after he scored a 97th minute victor for Man City at Bournemouth.
