NBA Live 18 will be the very first video game in history to feature official WNBA players and teams, EA Sports announced today.
The teams will be available from the game's WNBA Play Now menu, meaning they will be available only for one-off play offline or online (not in any of the game's career modes, in other words), and not against NBA teams.
NBA Live 18 will available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this September. The WNBA will be available in WNBA Play Now, and teams and player skills have been specifically balanced to reflect the unique play style of the league and skills of its players. This isn't the first time female players have made their way into mainline sports titles, but this is a first for the sport of basketball and the WNBA league.
Radeon RX Vega is AMD's return to high-end GPUs
The WX 9100 has 16 GB of 945 MHz HBM2 ECC memory on the same package as the GPU core, providing up to 484 GB/s of bandwidth. Vega will come in a number of different variants including the vega 64 and 56 which will be released later this month.
The NBA Live 18 press release also states that several of the league's top stars like Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and Maya Moore all did facial scans for the game; and this year's top draft pick, Kelsey Plum, contributed with some motion capture.
The game's creators fine-tuned player ratings and skill moves. FIFA2016 added 12 women's soccer national teams, including the US, to the game in 2015. It's good to have this sort of inclusion while also being a nice get for EA to give them something that the competing NBA2K franchise doesn't have or has already done for once. EA is hoping that the Live series becomes good again as they have not been able to match the National Basketball Association 2K series in a long time.
The game is "only a taste of what we have in store" now that the company has partnered with the league, NBA Live Executive Producer Sean O'Brien said in a press release.
