The hugely popular direwolves in "Game Of Thrones" are causing a real-life problem for huskies, according to the show's star Peter Dinklage. "Shelters are. reporting that numerous huskies are being abandoned - as often happens when dogs are bought on impulse, without understanding their needs", he said, urging people to adopt other dogs instead.

According to PETA, "Game of Thrones" has caused an increased demand for huskies, it's believed that this is due to their physical similarities to direwolves. The wolves are easily identified as heroic and loyal to their owners, and it is clear that fans have gotten a bit carried away with their desire to have a Direwolf of their own.

Actor Peter Dinklage has partnered with PETA to make a strong statement against the craze and subsequent surge at shelters.

GOT fans, coveting the HBO show's direwolves, have been buying the closest animal they can find to the striking fictional canines: Huskies.

They stated that fans of the show are buying these dogs from pet stores and breeders and naming them after their favorite characters in the show.

Many people are bringing these dogs home and not realizing that Huskies are a very energetic breed that requires constant grooming and exercise.

"Please, please, if you're going to bring a dog into your family, make sure that you're prepared for such a tremendous responsibility and do not forget to always, always, adopt from a shelter", he said.

Dinklage, 48, who plays Tyrion Lannister on "Game of Thrones", is a pet owner with his wife and daughter.

Around 10 husky dogs were abandoned a year before 2011, when Games of Thrones first aired.

Game of Thrones' seventh season continues on HBO on Sunday (20Aug17).

PETA has explained that this kind of purchasing has occurred in the past when such movies as "101 Dalmatians" and "Legally Blonde" were released.

Do you thinking buying huskies as direwolves is bad?
