Jay, 47, has quite the storied relationship with the show as he has been the musical guest three previous times in 2000, 2002, and 2017. He also joined Beyoncé for "Crazy in Love" in 2003 and Justin Timberlake for "Suit & Tie" in 2013.

Gosling's appearance lines up with the October 6 release of Blade Runner 2049, which he stars in with Harrison Ford, while JAY-Z's most recent album, 4:44, dropped on June 30. No word yet if they will be doing the same this season.

The announcement was made during last night's "Weekend Update: Summer Edition".
