Chelsea: The Striker Antonio Conte Chased All Summer But Missed Out On

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino looks on before the UEFA Champions League group H match between Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium on September 13 Chelsea: The Striker Antonio Conte Chased All Summer But Missed Out On

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed Harry Winks is still feeling the effects of an ankle injury suffered last April. "I think they are doing well but still we have to wait and we cannot give a date when they can return to the group and start training", said Pochettino, who is missing a key man in his midfield, as Wanyama featured in 36 of Spurs' league games last season.

The England worldwide striker was brilliant for Tottenham in the 3-1 win over Dortmund, scoring two impressive goals. "I think now he is motivated to try to show his quality and always that is welcome". I think I can help them a lot.

Despite failing to win their first two home games of the season, registering a draw against Burnley and a loss against Chelsea, Spurs may have finally dispelled their Wembley curse after a 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday. I want to put my contribution on it and hopefully I can score many goals to help the club to achieve their targets.

The striker explained that a "last-minute" phone call from Pochettino helped him make his decision, and the manager discussed what he said to the player on Friday.

Llorente also has first-hand knowledge of how Pochettino works, having played against the Argentinian coach several times when he was at Athletic Bilbao and the latter at Espanyol.

"He (Bony) was a top player at the club when I was there and I bet the club are delighted to have him back".

As with most things in football, Llorente's decision was a combination of factors, though he largely credits Pochettino's project, whatever that means.

The 32-year-old Llorente's switch to Spurs came as a bit of surprise, given he was initially linked with a move to Premier League champions Chelsea. He was at the end of his playing career and I was at the beginning of mine. "Now I'm at his service for Spurs, and I really want to give him my best".
