Manchester United make bow as Europa League champions and will face Basel at Old Trafford on Wednesday in search for first three points.

The Red Devils have a busy September schedule ahead, with games against Everton, Burton, Southampton, CSKA Moscow and Crystal Palace before the month is up.

Hughes said his team - and their style - had changed from Stoke sides of the past, adding: "This is my fifth season, and since we've changed we've had better success in relative terms and in terms of league position". Next he'll be giving talks about the night they stopped United beating them.

Shaqiri admits the Spain goalkeeper is one of the best in his position but identified a weakness in his game, too.

Fellaini trained with the squad at Carrington on Monday.

That being said, Jose Mourinho trusts the player and wants to keep him at the club, and last season was keen to tie him down to a new deal - and that has not changed.

"I am always ready to play", Herrera said after the match.

Marouane Fellaini remains a doubt for the match as he has yet to recover from a calf problem picked up while on global duty with Belgium.

Defenders Eric Bailly and Phil Jones are serving suspensions and will be replaced by Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof at the center of defense for Tuesday's game, while midfielder Marouane Fellaini is a doubt as he recovers from a calf injury.

Lindelof, who was a £31m signing from Benfica during the summer, disappointed on United's pre-season tour of the United States leaving him yet to play a minute in the Premier League.

Mourinho is taking part in the Champions League with a fifth different club after Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

United have reached the knockout stages in 16 of their previous 20 Champions League appearances; however they haven't made it past the group stages since 2013/14.

"He is very bright and very clam and step by step he will be there".

"He is a kid with a lot of potential, trust me".

"And then there is the fact that we have to play many times two days before the big matches in Europe and then other countries protect their clubs".
