Russia, US say airstrikes have killed top Islamic State militants

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a USA -backed alliance of mostly Arab and Kurdish fighters, meanwhile launched attacks against Islamic State in the north of Deir al-Zor province in an operation to capture areas east of the Euphrates river.

Syrian troops today broke the Islamic State group's siege of the eastern Deir Ezzor military airport, state media reported, days after ending another siege on residential districts of the city.

Dillon described the forces tasked with Jazira Storm as indigenous tribes who are prepared to seize "their hometowns and their province from ISIS".

US-backed forces in Syria said Saturday they were launching an offensive against ISIS in the eastern city of Deir Ezzor. Government forces are trying to get to the nearest air base, still surrounded by the militants.

Now the advancing troops are fighting to break the IS siege on the air base of Deir al-Zour.

In July, police in Tajikistan killed four relatives of the former special forces colonel in a gun battle, an interior ministry source has said, and three other relatives were arrested. Currently, ISIS militants are having a tough time to protect all the territories under their control in the border province of Deir al-Zour.

In a statement, the Syrian army said the Israeli warplanes fired several missiles from Lebanese air space, and warned of the "dangerous repercussions of such hostile acts on the security and stability of the region".

According to RT, the attack took place on Tuesday and targeted a meeting of ISIS field commanders in an underground command center.

The US-led coalition bombed roads to prevent the buses from reaching Al Bukamal, killing more than 80 militants and threatening to kill anyone that strayed too far from the buses.
