Russian Federation responds to latest Trump collusion controversy

Russia Views Only UN-Approved Sanctions on N Korea as Justified - Putin's Aide

Cohen denied that the proposed Trump Tower in Moscow, which was to include a luxury hotel, office and residential condominium, was related to Trump's presidential campaign, and he said that he never heard back from Putin's spokesman.

The US further announced the shutting down of the Russian consulate in Washington and offices in San Francisco and NY.

"Today's action, not kicking out Russian diplomats, but closing two trade mission annexes and the San Francisco consulate general, the oldest Russian consulate in the U.S. And a prominent Russian lawmaker tonight insisting 'the U.S.is declaring the hot phase of diplomatic war, '" Alexander added.

July 28: In retaliation to the Russian Federation sanctions bill, the Kremlin says it plans to seize two US properties and orders a significant reduction of the USA diplomatic staff in Russian Federation.

"We believe this action was unwarranted and detrimental to the overall relationship between our countries", she said, noting that with action against Russian diplomatic facilities "both countries will remain with three consulates each".

The primary reasons behind Russia's meddling in last year's election, allegedly to boost Donald Trump's chances of victory, have always been thought to be efforts to improve relations between the two superpowers and to remove sanctions that have hurt the Russian economy. The probe led by Robert Mueller is geared towards finding the relation between Russia's effort to alter the presidential election and the members of Trump's team.

Moscow ordered the US State Department to limit the number of its personnel in Russia to 455, bringing it in line with the number of Russian diplomats in the US. The decision to pursue the proposal initially, and later to abandon it, was unrelated to the Donald J. Trump for President campaign. The Russians promised a tough response to this move by Washington.

The decision, taken as a retaliatory measure against Russia's demands that the USA reduce its diplomatic presence in the country from 1,200 to 455, was announced by the U.S. state department on Thursday. Earlier in the month, Tillerson said Trump told him to rebuild relations despite the numerous investigations into his campaign's ties alleged ties to Russian Federation.

The exchange of diplomatic volleys did not begin with Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement at the end of July, however. "Five facilities that were protected by diplomatic immunity", Ushakov said.

After the House and Senate recently passed new sanctions on Russia, Iran and North Korea by veto-proof, almost unanimous margins, including a provision requiring congressional approval of any administration sanctions rollback, the Kremlin moved forward with retaliatory measures before Trump signed the bill.

The 35-page dossier, compiled by a former British intelligence officer working with a former investigative reporter, explicitly accuses Cohen of being a key link between the Russian government and the Trump campaign - a charge he has repeatedly and flatly denied.
